Terms & Conditions

The terms that apply when you register to compete, or buy spectator and party tickets.

Please read these terms before registering or buying tickets. By completing a purchase you agree to them.

1.Who you are dealing with

The New Zealand Latin Dance Championships is owned and operated by Dance Events Limited, a New Zealand registered company. Dance Events Limited is the party you are contracting with and the party that receives payment.

Venues used for the event and its parties are hired third-party premises and are not the operator of the event.

2.Fees and payment

Category entry fees are $40 per person per category for adult competitors and $30 per person per category for Youth competitors. For Couples, Duets and Teams the fee applies to every person in the entry — a team of eight entering one category pays eight entry fees. The Super Competitor Pass is $220 and covers unlimited eligible categories for the pass holder only, plus entry to both parties. It does not cover other members of a couple or team — they pay their own entry fees unless they hold a pass of their own.

Spectator tickets and party tickets are priced as shown on the Tickets page at the time of purchase. The Saturday After Party is free for registered competitors — one free ticket for each person named on the entry. Someone named in several categories receives one free ticket, not one per category. Additional Saturday party tickets are charged at the standard price. The Friday Warm Up Party is not included.

All prices are in New Zealand dollars and no GST applies. Payment is processed securely by Stripe; we do not receive or store your card details. Your registration is only confirmed once payment has been received.

3.Entry deadline and late entries

Entries close Friday 6 November 2026, 1:00 PM. Entries received after that time may be accepted at the organiser's sole discretion and are subject to a $50 administration fee.

Late acceptance is never guaranteed. Scheduling, music preparation and running order are finalised after entries close.

4.Divisions and eligibility

Divisions are self-declared. This is an honesty system, and you are responsible for entering the division that genuinely reflects your experience and status as set out in the competition rules.

If the organiser determines that a competitor has entered a division or category they are not eligible for, the organiser may move the entry to the correct division, withdraw the entry, or disqualify the competitor. Entry fees are not refunded in these circumstances.

5.Categories that do not reach the minimum

A minimum of three entries is required for a category to run. Below that threshold the organiser reserves the right to merge the category with another category, or to proceed with it as scheduled, and will notify affected competitors and team leaders.

A merged category is not a cancelled category, and entry fees are not refunded where a merge takes place.

6.Refunds

Entry fees, passes and tickets are non-refundable for change of mind, inability to attend, withdrawal, no-show, illness, travel disruption, or disqualification for a rules breach.

If Dance Events Limitedcancels or postpones the event, it is at Dance Events Limited's discretion to either transfer your registration to the next scheduled New Zealand Latin Dance Championships, or to provide a partial or full refund.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7.Competitors under 18

A competitor under 18 years of age must be registered by a responsible adult — a parent, legal guardian, instructor, or team leader. By registering a competitor under 18, that adult confirms they are authorised to do so and agrees to these terms on the competitor's behalf.

The registering adult is responsible for the competitor's supervision, welfare and conduct at the event.

8.Partners, teammates and their contact details

When registering a Couples, Duets or Teams entry, the registering competitor provides the names and email addresses of their partner or teammates. By supplying those details you confirm you have those people's permission to do so, and you give us permission to contact them about this event.

Anyone contacted this way can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send them, or by emailing info@nzlatindancechampionships.co.nz. Unsubscribing from updates does not withdraw a competition entry.

9.Your information and privacy

We collect the registering competitor's name, email address, phone number and school or studio, the categories entered, and the names and email addresses of any partners or teammates. We use this information to run the event, to contact you about your entry, and to publish running orders and results.

Information is stored securely with our hosting and database providers, which may include servers located outside New Zealand. Payment details are handled by Stripe and are never stored by us.

You may request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it, by emailing info@nzlatindancechampionships.co.nz.

10.Photography, video and media

The event is photographed and filmed. By attending or competing, you consent to being photographed and recorded, and to those images and recordings being used by Dance Events Limited to promote the New Zealand Latin Dance Championships and future events, without payment.

If you have a concern about a specific image, contact us and we will consider a request to remove it from our own channels.

11.Health, safety and liability

Dancing is a physical activity carrying a risk of injury. You participate at your own risk and are responsible for ensuring you are fit to compete.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dance Events Limited is not liable for injury, illness, loss, theft or damage to personal property arising from attendance or participation, except where caused by our negligence. Our total liability in any circumstance will not exceed the amount you paid to us.

You are responsible for your own travel, accommodation and insurance arrangements.

12.Conduct

All competitors, teams and spectators must follow the code of conduct set out in the competition rules. The organiser may remove or disqualify any person for unsafe, abusive or unsportsmanlike behaviour, without refund.

13.Changes to the event and to these terms

The organiser may change the schedule, running order, venue, judging panel or category structure where reasonably necessary, and will notify competitors of material changes.

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your purchase are those published at the time you completed it.

14.Governing law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

15.Contact

Questions about these terms, your registration or your tickets can be sent to info@nzlatindancechampionships.co.nz, or through the contact page.
